What do you research?

The project I am working on now relates to the ancient dance that Jupiter follows in synchrony with the satellites Io, Europa, and Ganymede. I am interested in the stories about how Earth and the other planets in our solar system formed and how they work in producing the environment we live in.

Why does space inspire you?

The bizarre idea that we can learn a story about our everyday life from looking at the sky.

What’s the first thing you’re looking forward to doing after COVID-19 isolation ends?

I miss the tranquility and organization of the open spaces in the Huntington Gardens.

If you were a celestial body which celestial body would you be and why?

Jupiter

Leaving Earth aside, I find Saturn, Jupiter, and their respective satellites some of the most interesting objects around. I am particularly excited about the exploration of these worlds and what it will bring to our current understanding of the beginnings of the planetary system we call home.
